Malaysia’s First Anthogyr Centre of Excellence Opens at IMU University to Advance Dental Implant Education

Malaysia’s dental education landscape has taken a step forward with the launch of the country’s first Anthogyr Centre of Excellence at IMU University, providing a new platform for hands-on learning, clinical education and professional development in dental implantology.

Established through a collaboration between IMU University and Anthogyr, a dental implantology brand under Straumann Group, the Centre aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world clinical practice by giving dental students and practising professionals greater opportunities to explore implant technologies and contemporary treatment approaches.

The initiative will support practical training, knowledge exchange and faculty development, helping future dentists strengthen their clinical understanding and build confidence before entering professional practice. It will also provide practising dental professionals with opportunities to enhance their expertise as implant dentistry continues to evolve.

“Innovation in implant dentistry goes beyond technology. It is also about giving clinicians the knowledge and confidence to apply it effectively. Through the Centre of Excellence, we hope to create more opportunities for practical learning, knowledge exchange and the continued advancement of clinical practice,” said Anne-Céline Godest, Training and Education and Global KOLs Manager at Anthogyr.

The collaboration was formalised during an official signing ceremony held alongside the LeCercle Global Implantology Consensus Summit 2026, which brought together dental professionals, clinical experts and industry leaders to exchange scientific knowledge and discuss developments in implant dentistry.

With more than 75 years of French engineering and manufacturing expertise, Anthogyr develops dental implant, prosthetic and digital solutions for different clinical needs. The brand also supports professional education and engagement through international training initiatives and communities such as LeCercle.

Mark Graham, Commercial Director for Southeast Asia at Straumann Group, said the partnership reflects the group’s long-term commitment to developing Malaysia’s dental community.

“Malaysia has a dynamic dental community with a strong commitment to continuous learning. Through our partnership with IMU University, we aim to bring education, clinical expertise and technology closer together, helping dental professionals strengthen their capabilities and ultimately contribute to better patient care,” he said.

Professor Emerita Datuk Dr Asma Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of IMU University, highlighted the importance of connecting academic education with developments in clinical practice.

“As dentistry continues to evolve, education must evolve alongside it. This collaboration creates an important bridge between academic learning and clinical practice, giving our students, faculty and dental professionals greater opportunities to learn, exchange knowledge and stay connected with developments in implant dentistry,” she said.

The launch was also a key highlight of Anthogyr Day 2026, where participants had the opportunity to engage with clinical experts, exchange professional experiences and explore implant dentistry through scientific discussions and practical learning.

Through the new Centre of Excellence, IMU University and Straumann Group aim to establish a long-term platform for education and professional collaboration, supporting the development of more confident, clinically prepared and future-ready dental professionals in Malaysia.
