Rakuten Kobo Brings Colour to Malaysia’s Reading Scene with September eReader Offers

Rakuten Kobo is rolling out a new September campaign in Malaysia, offering discounts on selected eReaders alongside a RM120 eBook coupon with every Kobo device purchase from Sept. 21 to 30.

The campaign, titled “Your Reading Era, in Colour,” is aimed at encouraging Malaysians to make more time for reading, with Kobo highlighting everyday reading moments ranging from commuting and coffee breaks to quiet evenings at home.

Among the featured devices is the Kobo Clara Colour, which comes with a 6-inch colour E Ink display and a compact design. The device is priced at RM768 during the campaign, down from its regular RM849 price, with a RM120 eBook coupon included.

The Kobo Libra Colour, meanwhile, features a larger 7-inch colour E Ink display and supports the Kobo Stylus 2 for users who want to annotate books or use the device for note-taking. It is priced at RM1,028, reduced from RM1,149, with the RM120 eBook coupon included. The Stylus 2 is sold separately.

For readers who prefer a traditional black-and-white display, the Kobo Clara BW is available at RM749 and features an E Ink Carta 1300 HD screen with ComfortLight PRO, allowing users to adjust brightness and colour temperature for different reading environments. The RM120 eBook coupon is also included with the purchase.

Beyond the hardware offers, Kobo is also highlighting a selection of eBooks available in both Bahasa Melayu and English. The featured titles cover a range of genres and themes, including self-reflection, workplace relationships, dark fantasy, personal development, suspense and behavioural science.

The highlighted titles include I Decided To Live As Me by Kim Suhyun, Sembuh dari Peritnya Bekerja dengan Individu Toksik by Luqman Mahmud, Revenge in Violent Hues by Nadiah Zakaria, The Courage to Be Ordinary by Ichiro Kishimi, Verity by Colleen Hoover and Situated by Angela Duckworth.

First-time eBook buyers can also receive 30% off their first eBook purchase using the code COLOUR30, with the offer valid until Oct. 31, 2026.

The campaign runs until Sept. 30, with prices potentially varying by retailer. Consumers can purchase Kobo eReaders and accessories through authorised retail channels and Kobo’s official online stores.

EDITOR’S TAKE

The RM120 eBook coupon adds extra value for readers looking to build their digital library.
Colour E Ink is the main draw, adding more visual appeal while keeping the paper-like reading experience.
Libra Colour offers more versatility with its 7-inch display, page-turn buttons and Stylus 2 support.

Bottom line: If you’re looking to get back into reading and want more than a basic black-and-white eReader, Kobo’s colour options are worth considering.
