Apple Launches iPhone Air, Its Thinnest and Lightest iPhone Yet

Apple today introduced the iPhone Air, a brand-new addition to the iPhone family, promising pro-level performance in a device that’s “impossibly thin and light.” Measuring just 5.6mm, iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever made, built from titanium with Ceramic Shield protection on both the front and back — making it more durable than any previous iPhone.

The new device sports a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz and peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits, designed for smooth visuals even under harsh sunlight. Powering it is Apple’s A19 Pro chip, alongside the N1 wireless chip and C1X modem, combining speed, power efficiency, and next-gen connectivity.

On the camera front, iPhone Air introduces a 48MP Fusion main system with multiple focal lengths and an 18MP Center Stage front camera designed for selfies, group shots, and stabilized 4K HDR video. Dual Capture allows simultaneous recording from front and back cameras.

Battery life, a frequent concern for slim smartphones, is addressed with a redesigned internal architecture and new Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26. Apple claims the iPhone Air will deliver “remarkable all-day battery life” despite its thin frame.

Available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, the iPhone Air starts at USD 999 (~RM4,700) for the 256GB base model, with 512GB and 1TB options also offered. Pre-orders begin September 12, with global availability rolling out September 19, including Malaysia.

Alongside the device, Apple also introduced new MagSafe accessories and eco-friendly cases, continuing its push towards Apple 2030, the company’s carbon neutrality initiative.

“The all-new iPhone Air is so powerful, yet impossibly thin and light, that you really have to hold it to believe it’s real,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering.
