Nestlé Omega Plus Teams Up With YJM, IJNF to Bring Heart Health Awareness to Young Malaysians

Nestlé Omega Plus is teaming up with Yayasan Jantung Malaysia (YJM) and Institut Jantung Negara Foundation (IJNF) to encourage more young Malaysians to pay attention to their heart health.

The partnership comes as part of World Heart Month 2026, supporting the World Heart Federation’s theme, “Don’t Miss A Beat”.

This year, the initiative aims to provide 10,000 health screenings and heart-health education to Malaysians, including young adults within the Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) community.

Why are young Malaysians being targeted?

Heart disease is often seen as a health concern for older adults, but risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes can develop much earlier — and many people may not even know they have them.

Dr Fa’iz Mashood, Clinical Fellow in Cardiology at Institut Jantung Negara, said findings from the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023 showed that an estimated 95% of raised cholesterol cases, 80% of hypertension cases and 84% of diabetes cases remain undiagnosed.

The survey also found that two in five Malaysian adults had not undergone health screening in the previous year, with some avoiding screening because they did not experience any symptoms.

Beyond screening, the initiative also aims to encourage healthier everyday habits, including staying active, eating a balanced diet and making better food choices.

More than 98,000 screenings supported in 2025

The latest initiative builds on Nestlé Omega Plus’ ongoing heart-health efforts in Malaysia through its annual Walk A Million Miles campaign and partnerships with YJM and IJNF.

In 2025, the programme supported 98,593 health screenings, with Nestlé Omega Plus aiming to double its screening reach by 2027.

The brand will also continue its annual contribution of RM100,000 each to YJM and IJNF to support heart-health education, outreach and screening programmes.

New Omega Gold UHT joins the range

Nestlé Omega Plus is also expanding its heart-health portfolio with the launch of Nestlé Omega Gold UHT, a ready-to-drink option aimed at working adults and people who are always on the go.

According to Nestlé, the drink contains three key nutritional benefits:

  • 1.2g of plant sterol ActiCol® to help lower cholesterol
  • Potassium to support normal blood pressure
  • Inulin to support good blood glucose control

These benefits apply when consumed as recommended as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Walk A Million Miles 2026 is now underway

The Nestlé Omega Plus Walk A Million Miles 2026 virtual challenge runs from 1 September to 31 October 2026, while the physical walk will take place on 19 September in Putrajaya.

The campaign’s media launch at MyTOWN Kuala Lumpur also features a healthcare forum themed “Don’t Miss A Beat”, along with health screenings, heart-health education and a pledge platform.

PTPTN will also have a dedicated booth at the event to engage young Malaysians on heart-health awareness.
